Great Crash Test Performance
In crash tests at TRL, the 140 post was rated as N3 classification at 100kph, and at NE2 at 70kph. That gives it the highest safety ranking for a post of this kind.
The FSP Frangible Post System is designed to crumple on impact, and can be said to reduce the risk of secondary accidents associated with debris from the first accident.
The post can be installed in a similar way to a standard steel post i.e. set directly into a concrete foundation or a socket that has previously been set in concrete. Even the clips to hold the sign in place on a steel post work on the FSP Frangible fibre reinforced composite post. And, of course the post is very light so this makes it much easier to handle, and potentially much easier and quicker to install.
Structural performance data for the product will be made available directly to specifiers and users of the FSP Frangible Post System in order that it can be designed into local applications. This data is also being distributed to providers of sign design software so that as new releases become available they can reflect the suitability of our product for particular sites.
