Regulatory Temporary Road Signs
Regulatory signs tell road users what they must or must not do, and they carry the force of law. They're usually backed by a traffic regulation order made by the local authority, which is what makes a restriction such as a speed limit, a waiting ban or a one-way system enforceable. Because they set a legal requirement, the wording and layout have to follow the regulations exactly. Getting the specification right matters: an incorrectly made regulatory sign can leave a restriction unenforceable.

Regulatory Temporary Road Signs
Temporary Road Signs and Sign Frames
We supply traffic management equipment, road works signage and temporary Chapter 8 signs to the public and private sector across the UK.
Our temporary signs direct vehicles and people wherever traffic needs managing, from road works and lane closures to festivals, car parks and private events. With custom text options, they suit far more than the highway.
What are temporary road signs?
Temporary road signs give short-term instructions during road works, diversions or events. Unlike a permanent sign bolted to a post, they're made to be set up, moved and taken down as a site changes. Most sit in a frame or stand so they can stand freely on the road or verge.
Chapter 8 and BS 8442
Signing at road works in the UK follows Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual. Our rigid signs are made from Zintec aluminium and conform to BS 8442 and Chapter 8, so they meet the standard expected on public roads.
Sign frames and stands
A sign is only as good as the frame holding it up. We stock stanchion frames and folding stands sized for triangular and rectangular signs. Many fold flat, so a crew can carry several in a van and set them out in minutes.
Signs for events and private sites
Managing parking at an event, or directing visitors around a private estate? Add your own wording and we'll make a temporary sign to match. Signs used on private land don't need highways authorisation, so you have a free hand with the message.
Common uses
- Road works, lane closures and carriageway maintenance
